SAINT LAURENT RIVE right presents an exclusive collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and the Fundación Anala y Armando Planchart on the occasion of the Milan Design Week.
The exhibition, organized by Anthony Vaccarello, will present a collection of exceptional plates at Chiostri di San Simplicitiano. In Venezuela, in 1953, Anala and Armando Planchart commissioned the famous Italian architect Gio Ponti to build for them an avant-garde villa on the highest hill overlooking Caracas. Guided by their modern aspirations, Gio Ponti designed a house « as light and graceful as a butterfly on a hill », overflowing with ingenious inventions, bright colors and with magnificent views, orchid collections and art works.
In order to complete the interior decoration of the Villa Planchart, Ponti used Italian artisans who were exceptional in traditional know-how, including Florentine manufacturer Ginori 1735, for whom he had previously worked as artistic director. He designed a set of porcelain dishes decorated with the symbols and patterns of the villa, illustrating his artistic talent and his sense of detail: the Sun, the Moon Crescent, the Polar Star and magnificent iterations of the letter « A » – a tribute to Anala. and Armando.
SAINT LAURENT RIVE RIGHT, in collaboration with Ginori 1735, has re-edited 12 original plates from the Villa Planchart Segnaposto collection designed by Gio Ponti in 1957. These decorative plates in traditional porcelain are hand painted in the Italian Manifattura of Ginori 1735.
Limited edition plates will be available on YSL.COM, at SAINT LAURENT RIVE DUTY Los Angeles, SAINT LAURENT BABYLONE in Paris and, for a limited period, by appointment at the Milan flagship of Saint Laurent on Via Montenapoleone during the Milan Design Week. Open from 16 to 21 April, the exhibition Gio Ponti – Villa Planchart will be presented at Chiostri Di San Simplicitiano in Milan.
